The streets of Janeiro de Cima village hide secrets such as the Casa das Tecedeiras, a space where the linen-weaving tradition has been reinvented to embrace modern design.
The entrance to the House is made by a space dedicated to the exhibition and sale of Schist Villages products. On the first floor is the studio, where the weavers work. With each movement they weave unique pieces where contemporary design and the most genuine tradition are mixed. The artisans of the Casa das Tecedeiras are all local inhabitants of the villages, who have benefited from years of training in textile design. Today they are able to produce a wide variety of articles, ranging from clothing and fashion accessories to household linen and various decorative items.
