Classification / Navigability of the river
Level 1
a) Calm waters with slight current, maximum velocity of 4 km/hour, without navigation difficulties.
b) Water currents with velocities ranging from 4 km/hour to 10 km/hour and without any obstacles.
c) When the current is more than 10 km/hour, there may be some difficulties which require the attention of canoeists. The use of lifejackets is advised.
Level 2
Some difficulties, with currents, small dams and easy rapids. The use of lifejackets and protective helmets is advised.
Level 3
Difficult navigation Strong currents and fast rapids that require mastery of the vessel. The use of an appropriate vessel is advised. The use of lifejackets and protective helmets is mandatory.
Level 4
Very difficult but without any danger to well-trained canoeists. The use of lifejackets and protective helmets is mandatory.
Level 5

Tips and hints
In Cambas, the Zêzere lends a bit of her beauty to the river beach, situated on the right bank of the river and protected by pine-covered mountains. Another of the attractions of the river beach is the weir, with a waterfall that transmits all the freshness of the river. The Cambas Bridge, upstream, is another emblematic point that indelibly marks the surrounding landscape. Pay a visit to the old parish church, dedicated to this patron saint. Of note here are the carved altars, eight Mozarab tile panels, said to date from the 16th century and some emblematic images and figures, such as the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the “frown of the pulpit ". The whiteness of the houses attests to the historical importance of what was once a noble “villa”, former municipal seat, the sign of a statute inherited in bygone times. Today it is one of the white villages of the Aldeias do Xisto. An essential element for any Álvaro landscape, the river has also given rise to the river beach that receives numerous visitors in summer. The beach is suitable for doing several sports and engaging in recreational activities such as fishing, canoeing, boating and renting pedal boats. It is mandatory to go through the religious circuit of the village.Start

D1. Cerca de 510 m depois do início (Praia Fluvial de Cambas) passagem por debaixo da ponte de Cambas.
D2. Cerca de 140 m depois açude com passagem no centro (verificar a existência ou não de retornos). Passagem por “terra” em ambas as margens. Grau 1+.
D3. Logo de seguida pequenos rápidos com cerca de 250 m com passagem no centro/direita. Passagem por “terra” na margem direita. Grau 1+.
D4. Cerca de 430 m depois pequeno rápido com passagem pelo centro/direita. Passagem por “terra” pela margem direita. Grau 2-.
D5. Cerca de 180 m depois rápido com pequeno açude partido com passagem pelo lado esquerdo. Passagem por “terra” na margem esquerda. Grau2+.
D6. Cerca de 30 m depois pequena aceleração com passagem a meio rio pelo local de fluxo da água. Passagem por “terra” na margem direita. Grau1+.
D7. Cerca de 500 m depois novo pequeno rápido com passagem pelo lado direito. Passagem por “terra” em ambas as margens. Grau 1+.
D8. Cerca de 230 m depois sucessão de pequenos rápidos com passagem pela margem direita. Passagem por “terra” em ambas as margens. Grau 1+.
D9. Cerca de 330 m depois nova sucessão de pequenos rápidos com pedras imersas passagem na margem direita. Passagem por “terra” em ambas as margens. Grau 1+ e 2 –.
D10. Cerca de 240 m depois nova sucessão, cerca de 800 m de pequenos rápidos com pedra imersa e passagem pela margem direita. Passagem por “terra” pela margem esquerda.
D11. Cerca de 600 m depois e após uma curva para a direita novo rápido com cerca de 300 m, em que se deve precaver duas situações:
a) com pouca água é mais perigoso devido à existência de muitas pedras imersas fazendo-se a entrada pelo lado esquerdo e cerca de 40 mts deve-se entrar para meio rio até ao fim. Grau 3-.
b) com mais água é menos perigoso devendo o percurso ser realizado do mesmo modo. Grau 2+.
A passagem por “terra” deve ser efetuada pela margem esquerda. Nota – Com mais ou menos água é relativo ao caudal de referência indicado no princípio.
Nota – A partir do local referenciado em D11 não existem mais locais com dificuldades até á parede da barragem do Cabril.
