Tips and hints
Agriculture is one of the main activities for the people of Barco. The lands of the parish are fertile and produce mainly maize, beans, olive oil and rye. Almost all the crop land is situated on the banks of the Zêzere, bounded by walls perpendicular to the river and that characterise the landscape. They have a very specific and well structured function: these walls serve to hold and secure the fertile soils brought by river floods. Given the cohesion and the participation of Barco people in local sociocultural activities, there are several associations.
Cabeço do Pião is marked by a mining landscape created by the Panasqueira Mines, and confers unique features to this region.
