Tips and hints
This crossing over the Zêzere in Dornelas is secular, ancestral and the subject of many myths, legends and some tragedies. It was already in the 20th Century that the fragile and dangerous barge was replaced by the old wooden bridge, just downstream from the current road crossing. Its built heritage comprises the main church. Long ago, the riverside beach on the Dornelas stream used to divide the village, but it is today a refreshing place to relax. The Ethnographic Museum is also worth a visit. In Janeiro de Cima, take a walk through the narrow quelhos and quelhas, which flow toward the old church, around which the village was formed. The New Church and Weavers’ House are other points of interest that simply must be visited.Start
