2 km after leaving Martinchel the route crosses a road and enters an intricate network of paths characterized by “hopping” from village to village. After a long descent, the GRZ meets, onde again, the road which you will leave almost immediately to move away from thr river and begin a climb that will lead to Casal da Serra. The next 1.600 metres of this strecht will take the path to Ribeira do Carvalho. The final stretch of identical distance ascends, in an intricate network of forest paths, with an abundance of eucalyptus trees.

A freguesia de Martinchel desenvolveu-se sobretudo devido à construção da Barragem de Castelo de Bode. No século XIX, por ocasião das invasões francesas, supõe-se que o comandante francês Junot terá passado por esta aldeia quando se dirigia para Lisboa. Como tradições permanecem o cantar dos reis, a matança do porco, as vindimas e a apanha da azeitona. No artesanato, realçam-se os Ovos Bordados, trabalho que consiste na decoração de ovos, previamente esvaziados. Depois de revestidos com lã ou linha de cores vivas, que formavam losangos e pompons na ponta, eram aplicados em pegas, que serviam de elemento decorativo nas paredes das casas de Martinchel. Na gastronomia destacam-se os Bolos de Ferradura e os pratos confecionados à base de cabrito, borrego e peixe do rio: sopa de sável, caldeirada de barbo, fataça na telha e arroz de lampreia.
